Earlier this season on "The Voice," I was flipping the devil-horns for righteous rawkers the Shields Brothers, aka the Bill & Ted of Season 2, from the instant they auditioned with an unapologetically shambolic cover of Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself"--an over-the-top performance complete with Yahoo!-appropriate purple motorcycle jackets, socket-shocked Flock Of Seagulls hair, and an oft-repeated catchphrase,"Punching America In The Face With Rock 'N' Roll," that would have looked totally bitchen on the T-shirt I was already planning to buy from the "Voice" merch booth. But quite un-rockingly, that was not meant to be: Their coach Cee Lo Green stupidly sent them home during the Battle Rounds, opting to keep lesser battle partner Erin Martin instead--presumably because Erin filled out her garter belt a lot more nicely than the Shields dudes filled out their purple leather jackets.
But that certainly wasn't the last we'd see of the Shieldses, oh no. Since prematurely leaving "The Voice," they've kept busy cranking out the covers on their hilarious YouTube channel; working with rock gods Bret Michaels, Ace Frehley, and Michael Anthony; and dropping by Yahoo! Music, where they recently played a couple original songs for Reality Rocks and indulged in a highly entertaining interview with me and my faux Purrfect cat. It was a magically Voicey day...and I finally got that Shields Brothers T-shirt I'd been coveting!
