Bill O’Reilly and Montel Williams Square Off in Nasty, Personal Dispute

Things have been … tense at the 2016 Republican National Convention, and it seems the anger and finger pointing has spilled over into the networks covering it. On The O’Reilly Factor Wednesday, host Bill O’Reilly intended to chat with television personality Montel Williams. He intended to, but it didn’t happen. He proceeded to have a cringeworthy conversation about it with fellow Fox News personality Eric Bolling.

“The producer tells me he was mad about some gay thing,” O’Reilly said, telling his audience Williams walked off moments before he was supposed to go on air. “Do you know what the gay thing was? Did anybody know what gay thing upset Montel Williams? No. Nobody knows.”

O’Reilly then took his displeasure with Williams to a personal level. “He’s not a man of his word,” O’Reilly claimed. “He’s unprofessional and, Montel, look, I’ve known you for a long time, but that is about as low as it gets.”

Williams quickly responded on Twitter and Periscope. After explaining he left because he was told he was going to talk about one topic and then last minute had it switched on him, Williams took the dispute to another place. “The word coward is usually used on people who have done most of the things that you’ve done, like embellishing lies about your credentials as a journalist, like the fact that your own daughter in a testimony in a court case, reported in the Washington Post, said that you dragged your ex-wife down a flight of stairs,” he said angrily. “You wanna talk about coward, homeboy? When you point a finger, three are pointing back.”

As of the moment this is being published, O’Reilly has not responded to Williams. He ended his segment with Bolling in a manner perhaps best described as petty. “We didn’t miss Montel WIlliams at all, by the way,” the host said. “We didn’t miss him. Anybody miss him? Show of hands. Anyone here miss Montel? Hey, Montel, you know, you’re not a standup guy. Walking out at the last minute? Very cowardly.”
