Bill O’Reilly Explodes on ‘The Late Show’

Things got heated on The Late Show as host Stephen Colbert and political pundit Bill O’Reilly talked shop about the Republican Party. For starters, O’Reilly thinks Donald Trump has the GOP nomination locked up. “I called the race three weeks ago for Trump — you can’t stop him,” said O’Reilly. “The TV media, they try to get the horse race so you’ll watch. But it was over three weeks ago after New York.”

But the real sparks flew when O’Reilly addressed the ineptitude of the party as a whole, particularly regarding a failed piece of legislation called Kate’s Law. While explaining that Mitch McConnell, the House, and the Senate all sat on their hands in passing the bill, in addition to attaching it to doomed measures, O’Reilly slammed the table while pondering why they would do something like that.

Kate’s Law mandates the incarceration of illegal immigrants deported after being convicted of major felonies who then reenter the States illegally. It was created in response to the death of Kate Steinle, shot by Francisco Sanchez, who had been deported from the U.S. five times. O’Reilly emphasized that these failures are what is really driving the fall of the Republican Party. “But they don’t expect their leadership to not do anything,” said O’Reilly referring to the Republican base as a whole. “That’s why they’re furious.”
