Bill Gates Randomly Parodies SNL’s ‘David S. Pumpkins’ Sketch to Promote Upcoming AMA

The original “David S. Pumpkins” sketch was made famous late last year with an appearance by Tom Hanks on a Halloween episode of Saturday Night Live. Its mix of beatboxing ghouls and general weirdness proved to be meme fodder.

Bill Gates’s own curious remix was designed to promote his fifth AMA on Reddit. An AMA, or Ask Me Anything session, is an informal celebrity chat on the popular message board. For someone like Gates, the billionaire co-chair of a major philanthropic group, it can be a great way to get your message out and show you’re still capable of having fun.

By the way, this is far from the first time Gates has tried his hand at a parody. His charmingly surreal corporate videos entertained Microsoft employees for decades. In classic Gates form, this David S. Pumpkins parody may be four months late, but it’s no less unsettling than the original.
