CBS Interactive today made the announcement, confirming Deadline’s report yesterday of a new season of CBS’ venerable summer reality series airing this fall exclusively on CBS All Access, CBS’ SVOD and live-streaming service.

As we reported, the digital Big Brother edition for CBS All Access will be 10 weeks and produced by the team behind the CBS series, Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol Shine North America. Longtime Big Brother host Julie Chen will also be part of the digital edition, with her duties said to include hosting elements. The format for the new season — developed expressly for a digital audience — is still being tweaked, and it is unclear yet how exactly the live eviction episodes will be presented.

The CBS All Access season of Big Brother is in addition to the linear version on CBS, now in its 18th season, which will continue as a summer series on the broadcast network.

The digital Big Brother is the third original series to be announced and first to premiere on CBS All Access, alongside Star Trek: Discovery, set to bow in January, and The Good Wife, slated for spring 2017.

With the digital edition, CBS is building on the success of the Big Brother 24/7 live feeds on All Access, which have been among the service’s most popular attractions, driving subscribers. A new installment of the voyeuristic reality series will keep the 24/7 live stream going.

Big Brother is an incredible success on the CBS Television Network and has always been ahead of its time when it comes to fan engagement,” said Marc DeBevoise, President and Chief Operating Officer, CBS Interactive. “Already, the Big Brother Live Feeds are some of the most popular content on CBS All Access and with this new digital edition we will explore ways to reimagine this format for multiplatform audiences.”

Summer-to-date, all three editions of Big Brother on CBS rank among the top five programs in the adults 18-34 demo, the top 10 programs in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, and top 15 in total viewers.
