The 57th edition of the BFI London Film Festival will run October 9-20, organizers said. This year's event will be the second under the watch of BFI Head of Exhibition and Festival Director Clare Stewart, the former Sydney Film Festival director.
The festival last year drew its largest audience ever, attracting 151,000 people despite the perceived absence of Hollywood fare.
Last year's event did include European premieres for Oscar contenders Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild and Silver Linings Playbook, as well as the world debut of The Rolling Stones documentary Crossfire Hurricane.
Stewart's sophomore outing will be the same length as her debut event and will aim to match 2012's shindig in scope, size and ambition.
In total, last year’s festival hosted 227 feature films and 111 short films from 57 countries, including 13 world premieres.
