Beyonce’s CMAs Appearance Sparks Social Media Backlash From Country Music Fans

Beyoncé has pretty much won the hearts of everyone universally, but country music fans don’t seem to be in on the love fest.

Once news broke that Queen Bey would be performing at the 50th annual CMA Awards on Wednesday night from Nashville, Tennessee, the Beyhive was naturally ecstatic but many others were outraged by the announcement.

“Not sure if I want to watch now!! What is she doing there!!!,” tweeted an angry would-be viewer.

Well, Beyoncé’s latest album “Lemonade” featured one country song — “Daddy Lessons” — so that’s probably what she’s doing there. Plus Forbes listed her as the most powerful female in entertainment of 2015, so that’s another good reason.

Another social media user compared the “Formation” singer being at the CMAs to George Strait performing at the BET Awards.

“Beyonce performing at CMA Awards will make sense to me the day George Strait is asked to open the BET Awards with Amarillo by Morning,” the tweet said.

However, the hatred of a few people couldn’t dampen the excitement of the Beyhive.

“My fave made an album with one country tinged song and got BOOKED for the CMAs. Artists who make country albums can’t even get booked,” tweeted a fan.

And some people are quite honestly only watching the CMAs for Beyoncé. With the awards show on ABC fighting for ratings against Game 7 of the World Series, they need all the viewers they can get.
