Best Speeches From the 2016 Emmys

The 68th Emmy Awards were Sunday night and television’s biggest stars came out to celebrate. For the winners, it was a magical evening when all of their hard work has finally been recognized. And it was a chance for them to claim their moment in the sun on national television, via an acceptance speech.

During Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s emotional acceptance speech for lead actress in a comedy series, she said, “Lastly, I would like to dedicate this to my father, who passed away on Friday, and I’m so glad that he liked Veep because his opinion was the one that really mattered.”

Sterling K. Brown thanked his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe, during his acceptance speech, saying, “I got the hottest chick in the game rocking my chain.” This started a chain reaction so that when Courtney B. Vance won an Emmy shortly after Brown, he exclaimed, “And to the girl that rocks my chain, Angela Bassett, this one’s for you girl!” Even Sherlock creator Steven Moffat got in on the action during his acceptance speech saying, “I’d like to thank my wife because not only does she rock whatever that was?”

There were many other great speeches from stars like Louie Anderson, Rami Malek, and Sarah Paulson.
