‘The Bachelorette’ Hometown Dates First Look: Peter’s Mom Drops a Bomb on Rachel

I’m starting to get really nervous, rose lovers. Last week, The Bachelorette‘s Peter shocked Rachel by telling her he wouldn’t propose at the end if he had “reservations” — and Rachel was NOT happy about it. And now, int his exclusive preview of Monday’s episode, the Bachelorette has an eye-opening conversation with Peter’s mom about whether he’s “emotionally ready” for marriage.

Mom’s answer is a bit of a good-news, bad-news situation: The good news is, mom thinks Peter is “ready to start a family,” but that “commitment” Peter wants “may not be a marriage.” I can’t be the only one who’s a little confused about this. It doesn’t sound like Peter has an issue with commitment, so is he just fundamentally against the institution of marriage? If so, he probably should have asked someone to explain to him what happens on The Bachelorette before he signed up.
