'Ash vs. Evil Dead' Sneak Peek: Lucy Lawless Brings the Pain
As his chainsaw-handed alter ego, Ash Williams, Bruce Campbell has three decades worth of experience fighting the evil dead. But based on this clip from the third episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead — Starz’s continuation of the enduring Evil Dead film franchise — it seems that his most formidable opponent may be someone who is very much alive. That someone is former Cylon, Warrior Princess, and Mrs. Ron Swanson, Lucy Lawless, who plays Ruby, a woman with mysterious motives but one very clear goal: find Ash by any means necessary.

Her means in this particular case involve zombie torture, as she sticks a sharp utensil in a walking corpse’s eye and then impales his whole body on a wooden crucifix, all the while inquiring after Ash’s whereabouts. And in case you assumed that zombies don’t feel pain, think again. Ruby’s victim screams bloody murder (something he’s probably guilty of himself, by the way) with each new punishment that she heaps upon him. If this is how she treats the dead, just imagine how she handles the living! On second thought, don’t. It’s one of those things that’s really too horrific to contemplate.
Ash vs. Evil Dead airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. on Starz.
