'Aquarius' Sneak Preview: You Wouldn't Like Charlie When He's Angry

Don’t get between a rock star wannabe and a potential record deal.

That’s the hard lesson learned by the Manson Family girls this week on NBC’s Aquarius. Charlie Manson (Gethin Anthony) is desperate to get his music career going, and he’s ecstatic when producer Elliot Hillman (guest star Evan Arnold) visits the compound to hear him play. But when the producer doesn’t stay for Charlie’s full set, Manson blames Emma (Emma Dumont) for driving him away. Not only that, he plans to take it out on all the girls — by ordering them to take two smiley faces, aka two hits of LSD. Which could kill them.

“Lock down what needs to be locked down, and then prepare to fall into the hole,” Manson roars. (While Aquarius is only “inspired by” real events, the scene echoes the real Charles Manson’s M.O.; according to the acclaimed biography Manson: The Life and Times of Charles Manson, the cult mastermind often used LSD to control his followers and preached to them about a “bottomless pit” in the desert.)  Though Emma begs Charlie to reconsider — “We’ve never taken that much!” — it’s unlikely Manson will listen to his Cherry.

Aquarius airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
