What the Anti-Defamation League Says About ‘Generation KKK’ May Surprise You
Despite a flurry of online backlash, the A&E docuseries “Generation KKK” has one powerful advocate: The Anti-Defamation League.
“This new A&E series is a laudable effort to understand and expose the Ku Klux Klan from the inside out,” said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, CEO of the league, a civil-rights group dedicated to combating anti-Semitism.
“The KKK is a racist and anti-Semitic movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy. ‘Generation KKK’ explores crucial questions, such as why people get lured into joining racist movements in the first place, and how difficult it can be for them to find a pathway out.”
“We are pleased to be partnering with A&E Networks on this new series and, as part of the launch, we will be providing resources to the public explaining why hate groups such as the Klan are so dangerous,” Greenblatt concluded.

The series, which will premiere in January, will follow four families involved to varying degrees with the Ku Klux Klan. It was swiftly targeted by some stars and internet users fearing that a documentary depiction of the KKK might “normalize” hatred.
“The Wire” actor Wendell Pierce asked for a boycott of the network and all of its sponsors, while other Twitter users stated that any show about the KKK is “not OK.”
