Anthony Anderson: Even Emmy Nominees Have Accidents

Everybody poops.

Sometimes in their pants.

And sometimes in their pants as a grown man.

Sometimes that “everybody” is a somebody who recently received his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

The fact that Anthony Anderson is willing to admit this embarrassing personal fact on camera without any real prompting during a run-of-a-mill fall TV interview is why he’s genuinely easy to like. It’s also probably why he is so believable and hysterical playing Dre Johnson, the dad who constantly tries to keep it real and remember where he came from no matter how humble or embarrassing, on ABC’s Black-ish. (To be fair, he only brought the story up after we mentioned this video of Jennifer Lawrence talking about “sharting” at Comic-Con.)

Anderson, who has been working steadily in his hometown of Hollywood since 1995, also speaks honestly (with a wink of course!) about what it feels like to receive Emmy recognition, who he’d feel most cool with losing to, and how his moment in the sun has everyone “trippin’” on set.

Black-ish returns Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
