‘Angie Tribeca’ Sneak Peek: NKOTB’s Joey McIntyre and NSync’s Chris Kirkpatrick Guest as Boypocalypse

TBS’s deliciously silly cop comedy Angie Tribeca has had its fair share of great guest stars — Bill Murray, Jon Hamm, Lisa Kudrow, Adam Scott, Keegan-Michael Key — but it took a couple of boy banders dropping by to help the show create its best episode yet.

In Monday’s “Boyz II Dead,” New Kids on the Block-er Joey McIntyre and NSync-er Chris Kilpatrick guest star as members of the boy band Boypocalypse, and they become acquainted with detectives Geils (Hayes MacArthur) and DJ Tanner (Deon Cole) when one of their bandmates — PT Cruiser, played by boy band little bro Aaron Carter — is murdered via… well, it’s too good to spoil, but suffice it to say it’s a weapon totally organic to the world of boy band-ing.

Is the culprit an overzealous Boypocalypse fan? Boypocalypse’s creepy manager (Saul Rubinek)? Or could it be sweet-faced Skyler (McIntyre), who may or may not have a chip on his shoulder about being Boypocalypse’s “cute one,” instead of its resident bad boy, like PT?

Meanwhile, Tribeca (Rashida Jones) has her hands full, too, as she reunites with presumed dead boyfriend Sgt. Pepper (guest star James Franco), and finds out he’s been up to some surprising shenanigans during his alleged death period.

And did we mention there’s also a brief, but clever guest gig for yet another boy band alum, Joe Jonas?

Boy(band)pocalypse, indeed.

Angie Tribeca airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on TBS.
