Disney Channel has a new leading lady, and she has one heck of a family tree. Meet Andi Mack (played by newcomer Peyton Elizabeth Lee), an Asian American junior high school student whose life gets turned upside down when her edgy older sister Bex (Lilian Bowden) returns home and drops a bombshell on her just in time for her 13th birthday. Andi Mack, the new coming-of-age series comes from Lizzie McGuire creator Terri Minsky and it kicks off with a one-hour premiere event titled “Tomorrow Starts Today,” which will introduce viewers to the show’s close-knit cast.
“My fondest memory of shooting Andi Mack was arriving on my first day to set on a beautiful Salt Lake City tree-lined street, knowing I was about to be reunited with my second family,” says actress Lauren Tom, who plays matriarch Celia Mack on the series.
sOf course, there’s nothing that a cheat sheet can’t fix, but this memory game isn’t the only game that Bex wants to be in.
The Andi Mack one-hour series premiere airs Friday, April 7 at 8:30 p.m. on Disney Channel.
