‘American Gods’ Trailer: Starz Series Asks Where Did You Sleep Last Night?

By Patrick Hipes

Starz took the wraps off its new series American Gods today at Comic-Con, debuting the first trailer for the series based on the Neil Gaiman book that stars Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday. The video also offered a brief but heavily stylized look at Crispin Glover among others cast in the Starz show that is slated for a January 2017 bow.

On the panel, executive producer/showrunner Bryan Fuller introduced new castmember Kristen Chenoweth (she will play Easter) who showed up to join Gaiman, fellow EP/showrunner Michael Green, director David Slade and Whittle, McShane, Pablo Schreiber (Mad Sweeney), Yetide Badaki (Bilquis) and Bruce Langley (Technical Boy).

Said Gaiman about the differences between the series and the book: “We get to spend a lot more time with a lot more characters than in the book.” The comic icon received a standing ovation from the audience when he was introduced.
