Alex Trebek Unnecessarily Slams ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant’s Musical Taste

Kyle Moss

On Jeopardy! Wednesday, host Alex Trebek had a little trouble wrapping his head around a new music style — nerdcore hip-hop — and he wasn’t very nice about it.

When Trebek was introducing contestant Susan Cole from Bowie, Md., he prefaced it by saying that she is into a style of music that “doesn’t sound like fun.” Cole went on to explain that nerdcore hip-hop is basically what it sounds like — people who identify with being nerdy rapping about things they love, like video games, science fiction, and “having a hard time meeting romantic partners.”

Trebek’s response to that came off a bit harsh, when he said, “Losers, in other words.” Cole had an uncomfortable laugh, and Trebek insisted he was just teasing.
