Adam Levine’s Shocking Loss to Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice’

Adam Levine was feeling pretty good about his chances after he and Blake Shelton were the only coaches to turn their chairs for a contestant on The Voice Monday night. The contestant in question was 30-year-old TSoul, who was excited to have Blake and Adam turn their chairs, but would’ve preferred Alicia Keys. Adam pointed out, “We have now turned around, Blake and I, yet the only chair that he’s looking at is Alicia’s chair.”

It turned out that Alicia’s “Fallen” was the first song TSoul learned to play on the piano, and even though Alicia didn’t turn her chair, she did enjoy his performance. But TSoul had to pick between Adam and Blake, and while Adam seemed like the obvious choice, Blake wasn’t going to let the 30-year-old singer go without a fight.

Blake was impressed by the maturity in TSoul’s voice, saying, “Your voice is like a 50-year-old voice, man. It’s got all the herbs and spices.” So TSoul decided to take his herbs and spices into the kitchen with Blake, which was very upsetting for Adam, and sent Blake into his happy dance.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
