Adam Levine’s Emotional Tribute to Christina Grimmie on ‘The Voice’

Elimination nights are always emotional on The Voice, but Tuesday was particularly difficult because the show honored Season 6 finalist Christina Grimmie, who was gunned down by a deranged fan after a concert in Orlando, Fla., last June. So her coach, Adam Levine, and his current team sang “Hey Jude” in her honor.

The performance moved Christina’s family, who were in the audience, to tears. Carson Daly thanked them for being there, while informing everyone how they can support other families affected by gun violence and breast cancer. Carson said, “Go to ChristinaGrimmieFoundation.org. Christina’s family has also just released a new EP called ‘Side B.’ It’s on iTunes right now; proceeds go toward this amazing cause.” And Carson had one more message for Christina before moving on with the show, he said, “And Christina, we feel your spirit here at The Voice every single day. And we love and miss you dearly.”

The rest of the night was about the current contestants and who was going home. It came down to being between Team Gwen’s Troy Ramey and Team Adam’s Mark Isaiah. Adam adamantly fought for people to vote for Mark, and it must have helped, because in a bit of a surprising upset, Mark was saved as Troy ended up going home in 12th place.
