Abigail Breslin isn't holding back.
The 20-year-old actress took to social media on Tuesday to "break the silence" about her own sexual assault in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness month.
"I knew my assailant," she wrote on Instagram, along with a black-and-white photo that read, "You are not obligated to have sex with someone that you're in a relationship with. Dating is not consent. Marriage is not consent."
This is the first time Breslin has opened up about her assault, prompting fans to show their support for the Dirty Dancing star.
"I want to thank you for your courage to come forward. I think this will help a lot of people," one fan wrote on Instagram.
"I commend your bravery in speaking your truth. Thank you for being bold and using your platform for the greater good. <3," wrote another.
Debra Messing, who plays Breslin's mother in the new Dirty Dancing remake, also took to social media to share her support.
"I love you, Abbie," she wrote on Twitter. "Your strength and testimony means so much to too many. #voice."
