A 6-year-old competitive dancer had one of her legs amputated because of complications from strep throat. Tessa Puma of Ohio was thought to have recovered from her illness after a doctor gave her antibiotics according to her dance teacher. She says the child started having flu-like symptoms and developed an infection on her leg. Doctors told the family the strep bacteria traveled to Tessa's blood stream.
