'Supergirl' Set Visit: Take a Closer Look at National City

One of Supergirl’s strengths is that it’s a fun and optimistic show in a genre where “dark” and “edgy” are far more common adjectives, and the set of the show is as sunny and enjoyable as you’d hope it would be. Even the headquarters of the Department of Extranormal Operations — set in a cave — is a fun place to spend some time once you turn on the lights and open the elephant doors (the sliding doors used to move enormous set pieces in and out).

Click through this slideshow to take a closer look at the three main sets of the show: Kara’s apartment, the offices of CatCo, and DEO headquarters. Ever wondered what those articles on James Olsen’s wall are? Or what Cat Grant’s awards say? You’re about to find out.

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
