'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: A Bachelor in Paradise

It’s the most dramatic week ever — at least, so far in 2016. The new year brought us a new season of The Bachelor, headlined by the super nice, super young, super smiley Ben Higgins. Will he find the woman of his dreams and get engaged by season’s end?

Um, probably not, judging by the show’s track record, but who cares? Nobody watches The Bachelor to see true love prevail; we watch for crying girls, petty arguments, and drunken misbehavior!

Saturday Night Live poked fun at these Bachelor tropes last year, when host Blake Shelton played the part of “Farm Hunk” (aka Chris Soules), a rather dull Iowan who is wowed by “so many beautiful girls here.”

“But tonight, I have to send three of them home — probably the two black girls, and one of the curly haired ones,” he says, sending up The Bachelor’s racially homogenous casts.

It’s going to be a tough choice: There’s the pediatric nurse who’s done some light porn; the third grade teacher who played a second grade teacher in pornos; or the veteran… of the porn industry. How will Farm Hunk pick amongst all these special snowflakes?

SNL returns for brand-new episodes Jan. 16, with host Adam Driver and musical guest Chris Stapleton.
