'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: A 'New Year's Eve' Sequel

The biggest party night of the year is here — New Year’s Eve. Across the country, millions will be toasting with champagne, watching the ball drop, and kissing their loved ones as the clock strikes midnight. (Or you’ll do as Jennifer Lawrence does — be drunk and disappointed!)

The sometimes-fun, sometimes-annoying craziness of New Year’s Eve was depicted in the godawful movie of the same name, and this throwback Saturday Night Live clip from 2011 pokes fun at the entire genre of “a bunch of stars in loosely connected vignettes celebrating a holiday.”

Above is SNL’s sequel to New Year’s Eve, “The Apocalypse,” which features “literally thousands of celebrities,” including Drew Barrymore (Kristen Wiig), Ashton Kutcher (Taran Killam), Alan Alda (Bill Hader), Al Roker (Kenan Thompson), and Christina Aguilera (host Katy Perry). Seeing all their impressions is a hoot, as is the seemingly never-ending list of celebrity cameos — what movie would be complete without Aretha Franklin’s hat?!

New episodes of Saturday Night Live return Jan. 16 with host Adam Driver.
