'American Ninja Warrior' Goes LEGO in 'Ninjago' Crossover

In our modern culture, there’s no surer sign that you’ve “made it” than seeing yourself as a LEGO. Well, now American Ninja Warrior has made it. LEGO is making a series of four shorts featuring real-life athletes mixing it up with a few fictional ones. And it’s the first look at a new ANW obstacle as well.

In the clip, two of the more well-known runners of the mighty obstacle course take on the Big Wheel — in which a competitor must cling to three free-rotating wheels in succession. We’ll leave it to you to decide how close the toy versions compare to the real thing.

Here’s Meagan Martin, the only woman to make it to the finals of last year’s competition (sans hair tie, sadly):

And here’s Kevin Bull with his “signature inverted technique”:

There are also LEGO versions of Meagan’s fellow Wolfpack training partners:

As well as announcing team Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila:

Jay, Nya, and Sensei Wu are from the Ninjago series, so don’t expect to see them ascending to the top of Mt. Midoriyama anytime soon — but since no American Ninja Warrior has in real life either, that’s not a knock on the animated characters. Which other competitors are you looking forward to seeing in LEGO form?

American Ninja Warrior premieres June 1st at 8 p.m. on NBC.
