The sparks between Elena and Damon are now a hot, raging inferno.
The two finally have sex (causing Delena fans everywhere to cheer) in "My Brother's Keeper." But there's a catch: Turns out Elena is sired to Damon.
Sure, she's always had feelings for him, but maybe it's not just being a vampire that amplifies them. Maybe Elena's passion for Damon comes with the sire bond.
Stelena fans ... there's still reason to hope!
Miss Mystic Falls
Elena and Stefan's breakup reverberates around town. Damon is surprised, though a surly Stefan comments, "Let's not pretend this isn't the best day of your life."
Caroline, who's organizing the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, wants to talk sense into Elena, but Elena believes she needs to "explore" her feelings for Damon (i.e., sleep with him).
Klaus presses Caroline for that date she promised him, and she relents into letting him go to the pageant with her. No corsage, though!
April (she's still around?), who's in the pageant, enlists Caroline's and Elena's help in choosing a dress. They both agree on the blue one ... until Damon shows up and endorses the red dress. Suddenly, to Caroline's confusion, Elena changes her mind to go along with Damon.
Elena and Damon talk about the breakup, making googly eyes at each other the whole time. When he asks what happened, she stares soulfully into his eyes and says, "You."
They're about to kiss, until Professor Shane, who's there to judge the pageant, interrupts them. Argh!
Now that he's a hunter, Jeremy is discovering he's acquired strength and energy. Unfortunately, he's also starting to have dreams about killing his own sister!
Damon doesn't want to make Jeremy continue killing vampires to reveal his hunter's mark, but his brother has other ideas. Stefan finds a convicted murderer, turns him into a vampire, and then forces Jeremy to kill him.
Not a good move, Stefan. Killing another vamp awakens the hunter instinct in Jeremy, and he leaves to arm himself ... and to find Elena!
Meanwhile, at the pageant, Caroline finds Klaus to be even more charming than ever. From afar, Tyler, who brought Hayley to the pageant, sees them laughing and chatting. "The sooner we get rid of him, the better," he mutters.
Uh-oh ... this fake breakup might just become a real one if they're not careful!
After April wins the pageant, Jeremy shows up and draws Elena to a back room. He confesses that all he can think about is killing vampires -- including her.
He goes after her, stabbing her in the neck. Suddenly, Matt interrupts the murderous moment and pleads with Jeremy not to kill his own sister.
Jeremy hesitates, and Stefan swoops in and pushes him away.
Elena is incensed to learn what Stefan did. She doesn't want to strip Jeremy of his humanity just to get hers back.
"The old Elena died when she went off that bridge. Let her go," she tells Stefan. And he does.
Damon confronts Professor Shane and threatens to kill him.
But Shane has an ace up his sleeve: Even if they reveal the full hunter's mark, it will lead them to a place protected by a powerful spell. A spell breakable by only a witch as powerful as Bonnie. And Shane is the only one who can help Bonnie get her magical mojo back. Point to the professor.
And another point to him, as it seems Shane has a partner: Hayley! Whatever their plan is, her work in unsiring Klaus's hybrids is a part of it.
I just knew that wolf was up to no good!
After the incident with her brother, Elena moves out of her house (with Matt taking her place to keep an eye on Jeremy) and into the Salvatore home (with Stefan crashing elsewhere).
Over whiskey, Elena notes how all her friends don't like her as a vampire -- except for Damon.
Damon replies that he hasn't seen her more alive, and they dance in front of the roaring fire. Their dance quickly becomes a hot-and-heavy makeout session, which leads them to bed. (And their union is just as passionate as Delena fans always knew it would be.)
Meanwhile, over at Caroline's, Stefan nurses his broken heart with liquor. She urges him not to give up on finding the cure -- or on winning Elena backz: "You and her? Epic! Her and Damon? Ugh!"
Stefan promises not to give up on the cure, and in any case, Klaus won't let him. Caroline reports that Tyler and Hayley have unsired almost all of Klaus's hybrids -- then suddenly has a lightbulb moment.
She puts the pieces together: Damon's blood turned Elena into a vampire; Elena can't drink from a blood bag or from animals; she changed her mind about the red dress; Elena always listens to Damon.
While it's a rare occurrence, Elena has the sire bond to him!

OMGSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH This episode of vampire diaries was too much! I can't think straight— Paige Makun (@paigenotpage__) November 30, 2012
The best part of the episode? Damon's face after Elena says "You." because sirebond or not, that wasn't forced, that was real.— Yolss.(@QueenOfDelena) November 30, 2012
