Serious cruisers hold one truth to be self-evident—you’ll never be hungry on a cruise. From the endless buffets to the opulent fine-dining restaurants, cruise ships offer plentiful options for culinary indulgence. While it may seem like the food just magically appears, the galley is a bustling hive of activity 24 hours a day.
We went behind the scenes on the Celebrity Cruises Celebrity Summit to see executive chef Rijo German’s brigade of 114 chefs in action.
On an average day the galley kitchen prepares over 10,000 dishes for the 2,500 guests and 900 crew members.

In one week the cruise will go through 825 pounds of lobster, 575 pounds of cookies, 3,500 pounds of sugar, 9,000 liters of beer, 9,127 pounds of beef and 48,270 liters of milk.
