What's a 'Snow Room' Doing on a Cruise Ship to the Caribbean?

Looks like someone needs to remind Norwegian Cruise Line that a lot of people take Caribbean cruises to get away from the snow. Instead, NCL is bringing the snow right back to them.
NCL just announced its humongous new ship, Norwegian Escape, will include its first ever Snow Room. This arctic oasis, located in the ship’s high-tech Mandara Spa, will be kept at a freezing 21 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The room will even drop a powdery snow flurry or two throughout the day.

The news comes as many Americans are shivering under a January cold snap and dreaming of a sunny Caribbean cruise. So why, you may ask, would a sunbathing passenger on a winter cruise to the Caribbean voluntarily step into a room full of the freezing white stuff?
In its press release, NCL touts the Snow Room’s “multitude of health benefits, including stimulating blood circulation in the body and strengthening the immune system.”

Don’t worry, though; there will be plenty of places to heat up in the spa’s new Thermal Suite as well, including 17 heated loungers, a hydro-therapy pool, whirlpools, steam room, and dry sauna.

Norwegian Escape is currently under construction in Germany. It will be NCL’s largest cruise ship, capable of carrying 4,200 guests. Passengers can begin enjoying the Snow Room and Escape’s other less-frigid amenities when the ship begins its Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami on November 14.
