We Love This Shrine to Grunge Rock at the Seattle Airport

Everyone loves a nice dose of nostalgia, particularly when you have some time to kill before a flight.

It makes sense, then, that the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is tapping into a longing for the flannel-infused nineties with their newly opened Sub Pop shop in the main terminal, near Concourse C.

For those too young to remember, Sub Pop was the fanzine/music label/club that spawned the ‘90s grunge music craze, famously launching the careers of Mudhoney, Soundgarden, and, of course, Nirvana.

The most amazing thing about the Sub Pop store is that they sell actual music on both CDs and vinyl. You can imagine a millennial accidentally wandering in to wonder what exactly they should do with these giant round discs.

There is 21st Century inventory too, including the label’s Grammy-winning EP for the TV series Flight of the Conchords and 2014 releases from Lyla Foy and Soundgarden (their reissue of “Screaming Life/Fopp.”)

Here we are now. Entertain us.
