WATCH: Southwest Airlines Puts on Concert at 35,000 Feet

In-flight entertainment usually involves watching reruns of network shows. But on this flight, passengers were treated to a live concert!

As a way to celebrate the inaugural non-stop flight from Dallas Love Field to Memphis, Southwest Airlines decided to treat their passengers to a performance from the country music group The Black Cadillacs.

After takeoff, flight attendant Michelle Agnew casually got on the loud speaker and announced, “Today we have The Black Cadillacs on board with us flying from Dallas to Memphis.”

Then, as the seat belt sign went off, the band members stood up with their instrument and took the stage a.k.a., the area in front of the jet’s front door.

The band proceeded to play two acoustic songs as passengers pulled out their smartphones to capture the moment. One of the songs called “Fracture” was written in Memphis, so it was only fitting that the band perform it on en route to the city.

This performance is the latest in a series of surprise concerts that Southwest calls Live at 35, which features live musical performances at 35,000 feet.

Other bands who have participated in the series include Imagine Dragons, Matt Nathanson, O.A.R, and Gavin Degraw.

“We see this continuing,” Agnew said. “Our customers love it. Our fans love it. On social, they ask for their favorite bands to perform on a flight.”
