Aloha, my friends! Hawaii is, to many of us, paradise on earth. An archipelago of eight islands in the middle of the Pacific, it is known for its beautiful sand beaches, surfing and a relaxed attitude. But while it is the 50th state of the union, it is an entity of its own. There are several major cultural differences between the mainland and the islanders and, as we at Yahoo Travel always say, know (the local customs) before you go. You will have a better time and make more friends — which, in a friendly state like Hawaii, is easy to do. Trust.
