Battling traffic for an early morning departure. Enduring coughing and sniffling crowds of weary travelers. Waiting forever at security. Delays… Air travel has been known to create a bit of stress, with our skin and hair taking quite a beating. Moisture-zapping cabin pressure anyone? Fortunately there’s something to look forward to once safely settled into that seat, other than the seemingly healthy dark chocolate covered berries you just purchased at the snack stand.

Along with breaking out the ear buds and stashing a stack of magazines in the seat pocket in front, I look at air travel as the opportunity to indulge, to relax, to beautify. So, no trip is complete without my carry-on bag packed with a mini arsenal of travel-size anti-aging products. Because what’s more exciting than arriving at your destination to a more rested, line-less and youthful you?

Here, 10 products to help fight the signs of aging a mile in the sky…

Dove Pure Oil with Macadamia Nut Oil

At less than $12 a bottle, this shine-infusing serum creates soft strands and fights frizz (a common in-flight problem). Plus, it leaves your locks with a fresh, alluring scent; always a welcome treat after a plane ride. And, a little goes a long way. I pump a small amount into my palms and work it through the strands, concentrating a bit more on the ends. It’s double-duty too, as I smooth what’s left all over my hands and elbows as an added boost of moisture for the body.

Beauty Bear Age Delay Pillow

Comfy and cleverly designed for proper neck support, this alluring little purple gizmo is a must on any flight (it also happens to be quite the conversation piece!). Most travel pillows are covered in polyester or cotton. Both of these fibers absorb natural oils, which can cause skin to lose moisture and contribute to wrinkles.

The Beauty Bear is covered in a satin that, creator Nurse Jamie says, “has a natural slip and tends to not absorb your natural lipids.” Skin is better able to retain moisture and the slip helps keep fine lines from embedding, since your face is sliding against satin instead of sitting in one place on cotton. You can easily “slip” it right into your carry-on bag. It can be used at home, too.

Nivea A Kiss Of Moisture Essential Lip Care

Effective and perfectly priced at $2.99, this is the kind of nifty beautifier you buy in bulk and stash everywhere — in the car, handbag, jean pockets, gym bag, and, of course the carry-on. Lips easily dry out in the air and there’s nothing sexy about a cracked, crusty kisser. Slather your mouth with this creamy tube of shea butter-infused goodness for soft, luscious lips on take off, landing, and everywhere in between. You’ll find the subtle scent irresistible, too.

Erno Laszlo Transphuse Age Defying Mask

Right after fastening my seat belt, I smear this cream all over my face. It sinks right in and goes to work without an ounce of sticky residue. At $95 a tube, it’s a splurge, but this miracle mask lasts for months and firms and brightens dull looking airplane skin. If you’ve been searching for a miracle to keep your face hydrated, smooth, and glowing throughout the duration of a flight, look no further.

Annmarie Gianni Skin Care Neroli Toning Mist

Anything that has toning in its name instantly captures my attention. Soothe your face and hair with a quick spritz of this refreshing, completely natural spray. The only ingredient is organic, wildcrafted neroli distillate from orange blossoms, which are said to soothe sensitive skin and reduce pore-size. Bingo!

Neroli is calming, uplifting, and smells good, too, so I love to discreetly mist myself a few times during the flight. Other passengers are never bothered by the relaxing scent. It’s also the perfect pick-me-up any traveler will appreciate upon landing.

Dr. Harold Lancer Advanced C Radiance Cream

The goal is to step off the plane looking radiant, right? Well, this stuff helps. Amp up skin tone and boost collagen with this lightweight potion that’s high in vitamin C — a well-known anti-oxidant that reportedly increases the flow of oxygen to skin. And, if there’s ever a time to appreciate some extra added oxygen, it’s in the main cabin.

Tatcha Deep Hydration Revitalizing Eye Mask

Goodbye, puffy eyes. (Photo: Tatcha)

Tired, puffy eyes can make anyone look years older. And mile-high travel only makes matters worse. That’s why I never board without this essential de-puffer. The cooling effect of the inner gel, loaded with a proprietary blend of Okinawa Red Algae and Peony extract, gives your peepers a boost of vitality. Pop it on an hour before landing to refresh and revitalize, and arrive more bright-eyed and bushy tailed.

Nightlift by Dr. Randal Haworth

Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Randal Haworth created Nightlift, the first “intelligent sleepwear” collection, to help maintain more youthful looking breasts while resting. With all of that moving around from side to side, the girls do seem to take the brunt of it while flying, too.

As Dr. Haworth explains, this bra will help keep the bust looking “More perky and prevent the formation of vertical décolleté chest wrinkles.” So, what we have here is a pretty, lace bra that helps keep breasts and prevents wrinkling on the décolleté. Just what the doctor ordered!

Radical Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30

Radical Skincare, which moisturizes and protects from the sun. (Photo: Radical Skincare)

Prior to landing and instead of applying cover up or concealer, I like to smooth a cream all over my face that instantly evens skin tone. It’s always a plus to have SPF in there, too, especially if the sun is shining. Formulated with “light-reflecting pigments” this makes fine lines look less visible and leaves skin with an alluring glow. And, if you happen to be meeting someone at the gate or at baggage claim, this is all you need, along with another quick swab of that Nivea Lip Care.

While airborne, your face is ground zero for dirt and germs. I always feel grimy on flights, and these trusty wipes instantly clean and refresh my face and hands. A couple of quick swipes right in the comfort of my seat leaves my face feeling soft and healthy, without having to trek down the aisle to the bathroom.
