There’s terrible turbulence — and then there’s the kind of rare, gut-wrenching turbulence that causes a flight to land, which happened yesterday on a Dallas-bound American Airlines flight. After taking off from Seoul, South Korea, the flight was rerouted to Japan’s Narita airport, due to extreme weather-related turbulence that injured at least 14 people aboard the flight.

A video from a passenger on the flight has been posted on YouTube that gives a glimpse of the harrowing scene. “This is the most frightening thing I’ve ever seen,” he says, in addition to leaving heart-wrenching messages. “I love my family, I love my family very much,” he says.

Passengers can also be heard crying and screaming.
