The Star (Mis)treatment: Celebrities Are Also Shaming People on Airplanes

Celebrities: They’re just like us. While sites like Passenger Shaming prove that everyday travelers aren’t shy about posting embarrassing pics of misbehaving passengers on social media, stars aren’t above it, either. Social media is full of examples of celebrities calling out other passengers, even other celebrities, on their in-flight trangressions. Here are five of our favorites.
Tony Hawk’s Revenge
This was one in-flight diss even Tony Hawk couldn’t let skate. According to an Instagram post by the skateboarding legend, the woman whose head we see here was rude to him during boarding because he didn’t fit the profile of a first-class passenger. The joke’s on her, because the in-flight movie she’s watching, Parental Guidance, has a scene with Hawk. We don’t know if it ever occurred to her that the guy in the movie was seated right behind her — or that he was ridiculing her in front of his thousands of followers. But as Hawk says in his hashtag, “paybackisbitchy.”

Eric Stonestreet Erupts Over Kiss Diss
Eric Stonestreet went all Fizbo the Clown on two members of the rock band Kiss (who, like Stonestreet’s Modern Family character, also like to dress in clown makeup) when he thought they had dissed his mom. As you can see from Stonestreet’s Instagram post, he was very upset after his mom apparently told him about an in-flight encounter with Kiss members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Everyone later buried the hatchet over social media (it was all chalked up to a misunderstanding), but the message is clear: Don’t mess with Stonestreet’s mom.

Don’t Mess With the Modern Family Family
Actually, don’t mess with anyone associated with Modern Family. Ryan Case, an Emmy-winning editor/director on the hit show, had a hit of her own when she live-tweeted the antics of a boorish and (apparently) drunk fellow passenger on a flight from Vegas to L.A. Racist comments, celebrity name-dropping, inappropriate advances, arguments with other passengers — Case tweeted about it all.
Tichina Arnold Turns the Tables on French Montana
Rapper and Kardashian companion French Montana tried to shame actress Tichina Arnold for her casual in-flight look, but it ended up backfiring in a huge way. Montana Instagrammed a pic of Arnold on an airplane and included a crude reference to the sitcom Martin, in which Martin Lawrence’s character frequently made fun of the appearance of Arnold’s character. But Arnold responded by eviscerating Montana in her own Instagram post. She bashed him for not being a celebrity (“Who ARE you?”.. I mean other than reading that you’ve dated a Kardashian, and you seem to enjoy taking extraneous pictures with LEGITIMATE celebrities…) and even slammed his social media profile (“How many of your followers are actually REAL followers and not computer generated?”). This is one case in which the shamer became the shamed.

Who’s Higher? Wiz Khalifa or the Plane?
Celebrities might like ridiculing fellow passengers for their in-flight behavior, but they should remember that they’re still fair game. One Twitter user posted a picture sent by his dad, who claimed he was sitting on a flight in front of a “super high” rapper. That rapper turns out to be a very baked-looking Wiz Khalifa. Of course, one can’t verify that Khalifa really was high. But a quick glance at the rapper’s Twitter feed confirms that it was a pretty safe bet.
