The Most Scenic Places to Rock Out to the Dave Matthews Band

Brittany Jones Cooper

The Dave Matthews Band will kick off its summer tour on July 15 at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. The concert is sold out, but thanks to Yahoo Music, you can see the performance.

Yahoo’s new Live Nation Channel will be live streaming the concert, kicking off tonight, in which DMB is expected to play two sets — one electronic and one acoustic. The best part — it’s free.

Seeing the Dave Matthews Band perform during the summer at an outdoor venue is a rite of passage for some and a ritual for many. Beyond the music, DMB concerts inspire memorable road trips, tailgating, and partying at some of the most scenic amphitheaters in the United States, which got us thinking — which venue is the best? So, without further ado, we give you the top five most scenic venues to see the Dave Matthews Band.

Gorge Amphitheatre - Quincy, Wash.

Located in a rural town above the Columbia River, the Gorge Amphitheater is one of the most scenic concert venues ever. The theater has more than 20,000 seats and is one of the most popular places to see the Dave Matthews Band perform. Catch them on tour here this summer Aug 29-31.

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is a geological phenomenon — the only naturally occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheater in the world. DMB has played here numerous times and even recorded its 1995 record “Live at Red Rocks 8.15.95" from the stunning location.

Alpine Valley is the Dave Matthews music destination of the Midwest. But DMB is just one of many bands that have frequented this beautiful venue nestled in the lush green hills of Wisconsin. The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and Pearl Jam have also graced its stage.

A concert on the water? Where do we sign up?! The Nikon at Jones Beach Theater is located at Jones Beach State Park and has more than 15,000 seats. The theater had to close in 2012 after it was badly damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Luckily for us, the theater reopened in May 2013.

Hollywood Bowl - Los Angeles

Tucked in the hills of Los Angeles, Hollywood Bowl has showcased some of the world’s best musicians since it opened in 1922. The Dave Matthews Band ended its 2012 summer tour at this amphitheater, and with its beautiful architecture and scenic views, we can certainly see why.
