Atlanta is known for many things: peaches, the Braves, and The Real Housewives. But it also has another distinction you may not know about — it’s home to the busiest passenger airport in the world.

The Airports Council International (ACI) has released its latest World Airport Traffic Report, and with 96 million people traveling through its terminals in 2014, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport tops the list.

This is the 17th consecutive year that ATL has received the title, and traffic at the airport grew 1.9% compared to 2013.

To find the second busiest passenger airport, you’ll have to go to the other side of the world. Beijing Capital International Airport had an impressive 86 million people stroll through its doors in 2014.

And London’s Heathrow rounds out the top three with more than 73 million passengers in 2014.

It also turns out that more people are traveling by air than ever before. The report showed that worldwide airport passenger numbers increased by 5.7% in 2014 to more than 6.7 billion.

And while all regions showed an increase in passengers, with 2.3 billion travelers, foot traffic at airports in the Asian-Pacific has grown the most with a 7.1% increase over 2013.

It’s important to note that while ATL ranks #1 for passenger traffic, Chicago’s O’Hare International holds the title for busiest airport in terms of flight traffic.
