Thai Model Slams Chinese Tourists in Unbelievable Video Rant

After getting cut off in line at an airport, one woman took to the Internet to air her grievances.

On March 15, Duangjai Phichitamphon posted a video on Facebook ranting about the bad manners of Chinese tourists. According to the model from Thailand, she was waiting in line at the Jeju International Airport in South Korea when a group of Chinese tourists jumped the queue.

“Not only did they cut before us, not only did they step over our feet,” she exclaimed. “Not only did they pull my hair. Now they push us out of our queue.”

Phichitamphon then panned the camera over a crowd of pushing people, before turning the lens back on herself.

“Look at us, we are Thai. We wait our turn.”

As the group starts to push and shove, Phichitamphon’s anger also grows, and after a woman nudges her, she is pushed to the brink. “I can’t stand this. Chinese people, unbelievable,” she said.

The video was originally posted on Phichitamphon’s Facebook page, but after it started going viral, she took it down. However, before it was removed, other users made copies and posted it on Facebook and YouTube, with subtitles in English and Mandarin.

Her rant has now been seen nearly four million times on YouTube, Facebook, and Youku (a Youtube-like Chinese site), combined.

Online, a debate is growing about whether the video is a simple observation or a form of prejudice. While some people are able to relate to her comments, many others are accusing Phichitamphon of discrimination.

“Racist, racist, racist,” wrote on YouTube commenter. “It is DISGUSTING that anyone can make generalizations like this.”

Another simply said, “No race is better than another. And for this young lady, just another very ugly heart.”

The tension between Thai and Chinese travelers has been making headlines recently. Just last week, a Chinese woman was fined for washing her feet in a public sink on Ko Phi Phi Don, a popular island for tourists in Thailand.

And last month, Chinese tourists were banned from the White Temple in Chiang Rai, Thailand after reports surfaced that they were using public restrooms in an inappropriate manner.

The ban was removed after one day.
