Usually when you take a taxi, you give the driver a tip. But with Taxi Stockholm, the passenger is the one who really gets the tips – tips from a ride along therapist, that is.

From Nov. 3 to Nov. 17, the Swedish cab company is sending out therapists in the back seats of some of its cabs to help people combat the winter blues with free consultations.

It all started when the owners of Taxi Stockholm realized that people seem to talk about their problems during quite drives. According to its spokeswoman, Natalia Santos, around 70 percent of people in one survey said taxi rides are a good time for reflection. “And when you think about it, the drivers can even become like therapists,” says Santos. “So we decided to put the two together.”

Some would say it’s really more of a PR stunt, but the company says it’s not. And who’s going to argue with free therapy? Mia Fahlén, one of the taxi therapists, says a lot can be accomplished even in a 10-minute ride.

Costumers can try their luck to catch one of the therapist cabs on the road or they can book a ride in advance.
