Nothing soothes an airplane full of impatient passengers like pizza.

Stranded But Not Hungry: Pilot Buys Domino's Pizza for Entire Plane After Delay

After being stuck on the tarmac for nearly two hours, Frontier Airlines pilot Gerhard Brandner ordered pizza for everyone onboard — on his own dime.

The flight was headed from Washington, D.C., to Denver but was diverted to Cheyenne, Wyo., because of thunderstorms and lightning. The plane was grounded, and the passengers were stranded inside.

Wanting to ease the tension, and feeling hungry himself, Brandner called up the local Domino’s Pizza at 10 p.m. and ordered enough cheesy deliciousness for the entire plane. And this wasn’t your typical late-night college dorm order. There were 160 passengers onboard, meaning Domino’s sent more than 36 pizzas!

In an interview with KUSA news in Denver, Brandner said it’s all just part of the job. “If the need arises, you need to take care of your family; you need to take care of your passengers,” Brandner said. “They are my responsibility the moment they step on the aircraft until they get off the aircraft.”

By default, pilots are pretty cool. I mean, they fly planes. But this pilot is literally a slice above. image
