The unpretentious luxury and Bahamian hospitality of this tropical paradise make it a fave for girlfriend groups. Long stretches of white sand, an infinity pool, and in-room massages help pals relax, but there are plenty of exciting group activities, such as deep-sea fishing and snorkeling. The outdoor-activities manager and the culinary team can craft unique experiences and personal menus for the group. Check out the Blue Water Adventure Package, which includes three nights’ accommodation and meals, plus ladies’ choice of an activity per day (flats or skiff fishing, snorkeling, a beach excursion with a boat tour and picnic on an island, or discovery scuba with diving up to 30 feet). Packages start at $2,369 for double occupancy.

Inspired by Japanese mountain hot spring resorts, this spiritual oasis is made for connecting with friends. In winter, hit the slopes and then come back to enjoy a serene spa package. The Nippon Nirvana spa package at $260 for three hours works wonders for sore muscles. There’s even a women-only tub (called Kojiro) that is open until 8:15 p.m. so that the whole party can relax together. For girls groups, Ten Thousand Waves offers the Crescent Moon House, ($229 per double occupancy per night) which holds four guests but is large enough to be a central private meeting room for a gathering of up to 22 people. Private rooms are also available for groups at Izanami restaurant free of charge. And ask for a sake tasting by sake master Gordon Heady.

The BodyHoliday is basically wellness heaven for girlfriends. Located on beachfront property on the gorgeous Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, this all-inclusive luxury resort has the motto “Give us your body for a week and we’ll give you back your mind.” And there’s so much to do: Included in the rates (which start at $500 per person, per night, for double occupancy, with group rates available) is a 50-minute spa treatment a day at the award-winning wellness center, various group activities from kayaking to yoga to scuba diving, all the healthy meals (and some naughty ones, too), plus more.

Rancho de los Caballeros has a bespoke horsey retreat just for cowgirls called Giddy-Up Gals Western Vacation Package. This trail-ride bonanza is led on weekends only this fall (and throughout the year if you can round up five other girlfriends to go with you — they’ll do the package for six or more people at any time). Activities include horseback riding in the clean desert air, cow wrangling, and a hayride to a cookout for dinner under the stars (with western music and s’mores, of course). There’s also a spa to help soothe ride-weary legs (treatments are not part of the package). The deals start at $585 for two per room per night or $945 for four per room per night. All meals are included, as are the horse-riding activities.

Williamsburg Lodge, Colonial Williamsburg, Va.

This is a destination not thought of often for girls’ weekends, but it should be. This colonial town re-creates life from the 1770s, and getting into the history and role-playing is half the fun. But the reason why Colonial Williamsburg makes this healthy-retreat list is not for the costumes — it’s for the group rates, incredible spa, and brand new cooking school, Taste Studio. Taste Studio cooking classes are perfect for group amusement. The Garden to Guest class starts with a 45-minute tour of the historic gardens and some history about America’s first foodies. Then, after picking fresh herbs, the class goes into the state-of-the-art kitchen for a cooking lesson. After lunch, the group can walk just mere steps to the award-winning The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg. The Lodge has group rates all year for six rooms or more.
