It’s said that Hawaii’s Polynesian cuisine is some of the healthiest in the world. In our estimation, it’s also some of the tastiest, too — exotic flavors and spices melding with local fish, taro, coconut, and tropical fruits, enjoyed toes-in-the-sand as palms sway in the breeze overhead. Mai tai optional.

“Fantasy,” you say? How about “delicious reality.”

Yahoo Travel, the Hawai’i Food & Wine Festival, and Hawaiian Airlines want to fly you and a guest to Oahu for three nights in paradise. Winners will stay at the Modern Honolulu, a luxury hotel on Waikiki Beach, and will be able to experience a slice of what this exciting 10-day festival (Aug. 29–Sept. 7, 2014) has to offer with tickets to a signature event.

For a chance to win, we just need your help.

If you need even more inspiration, how about looking to the 80 internationally renowned chefs who will all be cooking up Hawaiian regional cuisine at the fourth annual event: Jonathan Waxman (Barbuto, NYC), Christina Tosi (Momofuku Milk Bar, NYC), Masaharu Morimoto (Morimoto Waikiki), Philip Johnson (e’cco Bistro, Brisbane), Yuji Wakiya (Wakiya, Tokyo, Japan), and Andy Ricker (Pok Pok, Portland and NYC) are just a few of the celebrity chefs on hand.

Attendees can expect chef battles and tastings galore, plus cocktail parties and gala dinners, all set against the beautiful natural background of Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island of Hawaii. Participants can even get their hands dirty farming some taro (the purple-tinted tuber that makes up poi) or helping rebuild an 800-year-old traditional fishpond.

James Beard Award-winning chef Roy Yamaguchi — creator of Hawaiian fusion cuisine — founded the 10-day event to showcase the agricultural and foodie movements of the islands. Most people may think of Hawaii for surf and sun, pig roast luaus and pineapple, but when it comes to food, there’s plenty more to say mahalo to. Don’t you want to dig in?
