When it comes to terrifying thrill rides, Florida is breaking boundaries with two stomach-churning new towers — one that just arrived and one on the horizon.

At Busch Gardens in Tampa, the 335-foot-high Falcon’s Fury just hit the scene. The first of its kind, the ride hurtles riders 60 miles-per-hour to the ground … face first.

It is the tallest free-standing drop tower in North America — taller than the Statue of Liberty. The ride is terrifying parkgoers, whose legs are left dangling in the air as they take the plunge.

And in 2017, Miami will be luring thrillseekers with two rides that are even more harrowing at the new SkyRise Miami, set to be the tallest building in the city. Just last week, Miami voted to approve the 1,000-foot-high observation tower and amusement center with views of South Beach. SkyRise Drop mimics the effect of parachuting, dropping people right down the side of the massive building. SkyPlunge, a bungee-style jump, dangles riders over the skyline. For the less daring, there will also be restaurants, clubs, observation decks, and a flying theater.

The building’s been called “Miami’s Eiffel Tower,” but Paris doesn’t have anything on this.
