Domino’s Takes to the Sky With Caribbean Pizza Delivery

Could you live in a place where there was no pizza delivery? This used to be the sad fate of locals and visitors on the tiny Caribbean islands of Saba and St. Eustatius. But now, thanks to Domino’s, these islands can have pizza delivered by a small plane from nearby St. Maarten.

The idea started with an April Fool’s Day joke, when a helicopter made a pizza delivery to the islands. People loved it so much, Domino’s teamed up with airline Winair to make it a reality.

According to Mashable, since the service launched earlier this month, it has been a big hit, with several requests for deliveries per day.

The delivery fee is a mere $2.75, a small price to pay for freshly baked pizza. Customers can order from the Domino’s location at Princess Juliana International Airport, and deliveries are made on already-scheduled flights. The customers choose an arrival time, the pizzas are made right before the flight, and it usually takes about 15 or 20 minutes to fly to the islands. Customers then go pick up their pizzas at the airport.
