A thrilling adventure ended in death for a tourist in Thailand.

Abdullah Adel Kadhmbadman was visiting the country from Kuwait when he decided to bungee jump from the top of a crane positioned over a safety pond — the highest bungee jump in Phuket, Thailand.

According to local newspaper Phuket Wan, Kadhmbadman’s initial dive was successful, but when he bounced back up, the straps around his ankle broke. The 25-year-old man fell 200 feet to the ground, just missing the water.

After the accident, the bungee operators neglected to call an ambulance, and instead, rushed the man to the hospital in the back of a pick-up truck.

Kadhmbadman suffered a broken neck and ribs. He died shortly after arriving to the hospital.

Patong province mayor Chalermluk Kebsub told the local new organization that she has been diligent in making sure that bungee operators have equipment inspections and upgrades. But Khun Vinat, the owner of this bungee company, admitted that he has been operating the jump without permission, registration, or insurance for nearly 13 years.

In just the last month, 262 customers bungee jumped at this venue, igniting questions about tourist safety in Thailand. The company has been shut down, and the bungee cord used in the accident has been sent to Bangkok for investigation.
