#Daydream: Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, Louisiana

We know how it is. You’re stuck at your desk and the day seems to be going on forever. Your mind starts to wander — at first to “anywhere but here,” but then to exotic, faraway lands where your everyday problems and stress melt in the presence of true paradise. You want to go to there, and we want to go with you. Every day at 3 p.m. Eastern, we’ll send you a picture of the place we at Yahoo Travel are daydreaming about so we can all take that mental vacation together. Let’s go to…

…Oak Alley Plantation in Louisiana! This beautiful property on the Mississippi River was once a sugar cane plantation and is now a National Historic Landmark. Stroll along the pathway under the gorgeous canopy of its namesake Oak trees (originally planted in the early 18th century!) before ducking inside for a mint julep and some alligator bites. And because it’s Friday the 13th, we’ll throw in the fun fact that in the film “Interview With The Vampire,” Oak Alley was the home of Louis. We can’t promise Brad Pitt or any other vampires, but there have been some reports of spooky activity, so a ghost or two might still be roaming the property!
