Flickr photo of the day: Floating market
One of the largest of the famous “floating markets” of the Mekong Delta, Cai Rang in Can Tho, Vietnam, throbs with activity each day from sunrise till mid-morning. The largest boats, laden with mangos, bananas, pineapples and other farm products, arrive earliest and line up in rows so that smaller boats, while weaving all around them, can sell soft drinks, cigarettes, beer and other refreshments.
Using a Nikon FM 35mm camera and Fuji Superia negative film, Vietnamese photographer Khánh Hmoong captured this moment at the market. Introduced in 1977, two years after the end of the war, the FM was an alternative to the Nikon F, the workhorse camera of photojournalist during the years of combat.
