Flickr photo of the day: 129,690-ton mouse
Other than his portrait on the ship’s bow, there is nothing “mickey mouse” about the Disney Dream. Built in Papenburg, Germany for approximately $500 million, the 1,115-foot-long ship was launched on Jan. 19, 2011 from Port Canaveral, Fla.
Should the real Mickey ever sail on the Dream he would be pleased to know he could find all the cheese he could eat at any of the nine restaurants on board. With 2,500 passengers and 1,500 crew members all wanting autographs, he and Minnie Mouse might choose to stay in their cabin, order room service and request that the Captain play their favorite songs on the ship’s horn.
