Behind the Scenes at the 'Netflix & Chill' Airbnb

Why not rent a room for a night in New York City to… “Netflix and chill?”

Artist Tom Galle and ART404’s latest collaboration has turned a funny meme into an Airbnb listing that you can experience in real life. The studio rental became an instant internet sensation.

“We just brainstorm a lot,” Galle explained. “It just naturally came about.”

The slang serves an excuse to hook up while making a movie date of sorts, while the Airbnb listing provides an opportunity to rent out the space in a creative way.

The rental is available on Saturdays. If you book, you and your plus-one can sleep in a bed emblazoned with the streaming service while lying in Netflix-stitched bathrobes. A fully stacked mini bar holds liquor, champagne, and soda mixes. (Your hosts can also order you Seamless during your stay.) The night in comes with an HD projector, AppleTV, surround sound speakers, and of course, a Netflix subscription. There’s also a large marble bathroom and access to a rooftop overlooking the iconic West Village.

“We just want to make sure they’re getting a really cool experience,” Galle told Yahoo Travel.

The team was overwhelmed with the viral reaction. “We expected some reaction, but not this much,” Galle explained. “It’s overwhelming.”

They’re already fielding a few inquiries and getting ready to host the first renters the first weekend of February.
