Azteca America Acquires Spanish-Language Rights To ‘Miss Universe Pageant’

Azteca America has acquired the Spanish-language rights to air The 64th Annual Miss Universe Pageant on Sunday. Hosted by Vanessa Claudio and Poncho de Anda, the pageant will be broadcast simultaneously with Fox’s telecast beginning at 7 PM ET.

The Spanish-language rights to the broadcast previously belonged to Telemundo and Univision when Donald Trump owned the pageant. But after the fracas between Trump and NBC over Trump’s incendiary remarks about Mexican immigrants, Univision dropped the telecast along with NBC, who had rights to the English-language broadcast. Trump later sold the pageant to WME-IMG.

The three-hour annual event will air live on Fox from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on December 20 at 7 PM ET live, and tape delayed on the West Coast.
