Are These the Worst National Parks? The Government Doesn't Think So!

This week, we published a story on the five worst national parks across the country. It seems we ruffled a few feathers across the country, including those of the U.S. government. The U.S. Department of Interior called us out on Twitter and accepted our challenge, posting a gorgeous slideshow on Tumblr of those same national parks. Here, we share their slideshow with you, and we have to admit: these locations look pretty darn gorgeous here. (But we still think that it’s a real problem to have national parks that are inaccessible or riddled with West Nile and rattlesnakes.)

And here’s what the U.S. Department of Interior had to say:

“Yesterday, Yahoo! released a list of The Nation’s Worst National Parks,’ but we think these stunning pics prove these national parks are some of the most beautiful places in the U.S. — and are definitely worth the visit!

Called ‘America’s Best Idea,’ our national parks protect some of the most spectacular places in the U.S. From Alaska to Florida — and every state in between — the more than 400 national parks help preserve local history and provide visitors a chance to explore America’s great outdoors. We think all of them are pretty special and worth preserving.”
